OCT
Product features OCT
OCT – OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY FOR LASER WELDING
Seam tracking – process observation – seam monitoring
The OCT system from Lessmüller Lasertechnik offers completely new possibilities for quality assurance of your welding processes – in real time.
Coaxially coupled into the processing beam or as a stand-alone variant, the OCT performs a highly accurate height profile measurement in the area of the TCP (Tool Center Point). During the active welding process, the component surface is scanned with µm precision at around 70,000 measuring points per second. An image includes areas of the weld butt joint, the molten pool and the cooled seam.
In addition, OCT allows the processing laser head to track the weld joint or seam in a self-controlled manner, independent of the current direction of laser head movement and without prior calibration or predetermined trajectory information.
This allows precise and non-contact seam tracking before the welding process and contour control of the finished seam after the welding process. No other method allows such an economical and highly accurate measurement of the weld penetration depth (keyhole depth) possible during the process.
This opens up the possibility of performing seam tracking (pre-process), process monitoring (in-process) and seam control (post-process) in laser welding (and also soldering) with a single system. Extensive software packages exist for all three application areas, which offer automated evaluation of the measurement data. The flexible adaptation of the evaluation algorithms to your specific tasks is one of our greatest strengths.
Each OCT system is individually configured and parameterized according to the requirements of your processes. All relevant measurement and evaluation data are stored for complete traceability and are available to the user without restriction. Our OCT system is compatible with all common welding optics – scanner optics as well as fixed optics – and supports all common fieldbuses.
Measurement with OCT is direction-independent and can be used omnidirectionally. In addition, the OCT is unaffected by interfering influences such as smoke, stray light or irregularities on the surface, such as scratches.
